Alpha Industries: Military Inspired Outerwear and Apparel, since 1959! Alpha Industries is an American clothing manufacturer founded in 1959 in Knoxville, Tennessee. Initially, as a contractor to the United States military, the company expanded into an international commercial seller of American military style and fashion apparel. “Alpha Industries is awarded its first U.S. Department of Defense contracts to manufacture Air Force N-3B parkas and Navy shipboard shirts. This is the first real test for the fledgling apparel company”. Alpha Industries has launched NASA RE: Supply, a collection of true vintage NASA tees from the ‘80s, ‘90s, and 2000s. They’ve assembled a collection of vintage T-shirts with a variety of space-themed graphics. These include graphics representing missions flown by the Space Shuttles Atlantis, Endeavour, and Discovery, as well as a variety of shirts designing NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. An especially striking print of these tees is the custom designs and hand embroidery done by Jamie Wong Paoletti, owner of LA-based vintage store Raggedy Threads. With interesting stitching and different features, her additions to the NASA tees capture a certain flair that makes them truly unique. For Spring/Summer 2021, Alpha Industries collaborated with another classic American brand, Playboy. Alpha Industries and Playboy have teamed up to design a capsule collection of uniquely branded Playboy jackets, bags, and T-shirts that can be worn all year long. As two iconic American brands, Alpha Industries and Playboy have successfully collaborated to produce shrewd fashion pieces that are both on-brand and authentic to their military roots. For the capsule collection, the inspiration is the Playboy Club, a cultural aspect and object of fascination for the late 20th-century party scene. Operation Re: Supply provides new life to deadstock and vintage pieces. Expertly sourced from a variety of collectors and suppliers, these items are verified in-house by Alpha Industries. These vintage military vintage items are previously owned by military people from militaries around the globe. Each vintage item has a unique story and may exhibit signs of age, wear, or prior use. The deadstock items are manufactured previously. Deadstock items are in unused condition but may show signs of age. The collections are designed in collaboration with a variety of designers and artists. Each item is different and created using a variety of different fabrications. Women’s bomber jackets from Alpha Industries are designed for fighter women. The MA-1 fighter pilot jacket was the first style to transition from the military into civilian fashion. The women’s bomber jacket is timeless and great for any season. These colorful, all-weather bomber jackets are a softer take on the L-2B design. Designed with a 100% cotton shell and are easy to wash. The original L-2B flight jacket was first created in the 1950s as a more lightweight alternative to the MA-1 and L-2A jackets allotted to the US Air Force. The L-2B was invented for normal temperatures of 42-65 degrees Fahrenheit, making it the ideal outer layer for most seasons. Alpha Industries started designing the iconic MA-1 Bomber Jacket for the United States Department of Defense in 1963. Created from long-lasting flight nylon, the MA-1 was water-resistant and more varied than earlier leather versions of the bomber jacket. The latest version follows the same design specs as the ones originally made for Air Force and Navy pilots. Patches are used in the military to signify rank, squadron or unit affiliation, and unique achievements. Over time, patches of all kinds have become popular accessories on garments and accessories. All the patches designed by Alpha Industries have hook and loop backing and can be attached to jackets, bags, and other items.
