Then it was quickly replaced by sapphire glass, for quality, hardness, and durability in watches. A special feature of Sternglas is the compact construction of a double curve (inside unequal outside), which reduces the optical twist of the dial and makes it even more resistant. They double-coated each glass with an anti-reflective coating to reduce environmental reflections many times over.
